98 NOVA

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
98 Nova
Nifty and neat
My 98 Nova
Cruisin' down the street
I'm out on the dance floor
Dancin' to the beat
In my 98 Nova
Cruisin' down the street
The road is water
The night is clear
The lights shine bright colours
On the water so near
98 Nova
Nifty and neat
My 98 Nova
Cruisin' down the street
I'm out on the dance floor
Dancin' to the beat
In my 98 Nova
Cruisin' down the street
Tad's Note: I wrote this poem in the 1980's, so "98 NOVA" was a
futuristic car, when I wrote it. I just liked the sound and rhythm of it.
The way I rember it, the poem was inspired in the back seat of Dad's
Bonneville, as he was driving my brother Mike and I home from a dance
with several high school friends. As we were driving, it was raining, or
it had rained, and, to me, the way light danced on the wet pavement,
as we drove along, made me happy and inspired me, sort of like this
run-on sentence with too many commas frustrates me. My best friend
from high school, the late Dan Bibeau, drove a Nova, around that time,
and I had just seen Dan at the dance, so, that's where that particular
model of car came into the poem, despite the fact that the poem was
actually inspired during a ride in my dad's Bonneville. How's that for
over-explanation? ;-)
