I'm not just shortsighted in my eyes.
My view is just as skewed in time.
Today is all I seem to see.
Tomorrow's light does seldom shine.

I'm not just shortsighted in my eyes.
I'm too acquainted with the lies
That tell me "Life's as easy as pie
And it's also a piece of cake!"

But even pie or cake takes more than one bite,
So I must now begin my fight
And make way into tomorrow's light
Until my potential reaches its potential
And all the lies are replaced with tries
And I depend on more than the providential.

I'm not just shortsighted in my eyes.
My courage also needs some glasses
To wipe out the fear that blurs my vision,
Filling mental sight with indecision
And well thought out, senseless excuses
For looking at patience with derision.

Even pie or cake takes more than one bite,
So I must now begin my fight
And make way into tomorrow's light
Until my potential reaches its potential
And all the lies are replaced with tries
And I depend on more than the providential.
