WHEN THE CLOUDS HAVE MOVED ASIDE
When words are spoken,
What do they mean?
When I hear the words you say,
Ambiguity is what I glean.
I long for the day
When I will know
How you feel
And this masquerade of pleasantries
Will be replaced by reality,
By how brightly the stars shine
When the clouds have moved aside.
When words are spoken,
What do they mean?
When I hear the words you say,
Ambiguity is what I glean.
Am I trying too hard
To take our masks away?
Oh, I long for the day
When I will know
How I feel
And this masquerade of pleasantries
Will be replaced by reality,
By how brightly the stars shine
When the clouds have moved aside.
When your words are spoken,
What do you mean?
From joyful hellos to suspicious good-byes,
Ambiguity is what I glean.
Oh, how I fear the day
When I will know
How you feel
And this masquerade of polite conversations
Will be replaced
By reality,
By the vacant, starless sky revealed
When the clouds have moved aside.
