Michael W. Smith, on his "Live the Life" album, has a powerful song called "Missing Person," in which he wonders where the devout child he used to be disappeared to. I can really relate. I've got all the theology and doctrine down, but the passion for God that I had as a child so often eludes me.

I wrote "EVERY DAY FOR GOD" in my teens, and I ask you to pray God would rekindle that childish, holy passion for him in my heart. Christ's sacrifice demands an answer of all of us. I choose to bring to him my brokenness, folly, and confusion, coming to him as I am. I cannot wait until I am better, because without him, that time will never come. When I'm tempted to condemn myself, the Holy Spirit reminds me that Jesus came not to condemn, but to save. As Dad (The Rev. David R. Ketchen) said once, in one of his sermons, "He didn't go to the cross so that you could be lost."
